Oh, hey! I wanted to tell you about the song "Ace." This song was written as a response to feelings like jealousy, comparison, anger, resentment and cockiness. It's dripping with ego, which is why it's earlier on in the album. "Charming" tells a story, and somewhere in the story I felt the need to compete or to prove my worth to someone who was entertaining other options. The playing card metaphor came from real-life experiences of late night card games. The hook says "He might be a 10 but I'm an Ace," a reference to Euchre, where an Ace is higher than a 10.

The beat of this one is super catchy, and it's definitely a "villain" song as I like to call it. Thematically, this song felt like a perfect fit with the fairytale/regal of it all. Because what imagery lives on playing cards? Kings and Queens. Luckily, I no longer feel the need to compete or to let my ego do much of the talking. Similarly to the song "Troublemakers," this was an honest representation of my feelings at the time, but I no longer relate to the sentiment (well, maybe a little bit). Love isn't about playing games or having the highest card.
