Early Bird
This is very new / recent for me, but I’ve been trying to wake up early and go to the gym before work. Generally I’m an evening exerciser unless it’s an outdoor walk. But there’s something about the discipline in getting close to my 10,000 steps before 10am. Listening to empowering music, planning the rest of my day, and feeling a sweet sense of victory is so worth hopping out of bed for. Today I woke up around 5am, made a delicious breakfast (strawberry oatmeal, vanilla yogurt and granola), took a bubble bath, then made it to the gym by 6:30. It’s a chilly morning for the end of May, but I’m grateful to be alive and to get the blood pumping 🩸
A few weeks ago, my Mom sent me a Mel Robbins podcast episode (and I’ve been listening religiously ever since). The episode she sent me is called “Motivation is Garbage” and Mel talks about the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 method- where you count down from 5 and then spring out of bed or do whatever task is in front of you. It’s been extremely useful, especially in the early hours of the morning. Realistically, I know I won’t always be willing to wake up at this hour, but on the days where I can, I grasp the day and get moving.
Today’s gym music is “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” (Billie Eilish album) and it is in fact, hitting me hard and soft. The world is yours for the taking, friends!
xo, Bobby
